Ana Catarina Fragoso — Sangue

Ana Catarina Fragoso was born in Lisbon in 1984, where she lives and works as a painter and teacher, and studied Fine Arts – Painting (2002-2008) and Architecture Studies (2009-2012). During the year 2019 she was a artist in residence in Budapeste Galéria” (Budapeste, Hungary, 2019, with the support of CML) and “Pico do Refúgio” (Azores, 2019).

Using Painting as her language of choice, her work focuses in the sensory potential of images produced through color and movement. More specifically, the ability to elaborate on visual language, distance and closeness through a sensory approach.

Of special note among her solo shows are the exhibitions: “Blood” (Appleton Box, Lisbon, 2022), Mountains Running Through our Fingers” (Galeria da Casa A. Molder, Lisbon, 2021), “Liquid Sand” (Galeria Municipal de Torres Vedras, Torres Vedras, 2020), “All Matter…” (Galeria Sá da Costa, Lisbon, 2019), “The Mountain that was also made of iron” (Nanogaleria, Lisbon, 2019); and the following group exhibitions: “The Divergent Gaze” (Arquipélago – CAC, Azores, 2019), “SuperAmoled” (Colégio das Artes, Coimbra, 2018), “Rrevolução” (Colégio das Artes, Coimbra, 2017), “Casa-Pátio” (Espaço das Mercês, Lisbon, 2016), “Apreço” (Zaratan, Lisbon, 2015), “Fazer Falso” (Espaço AZ, Lisbon, 2015).

Her work is represented In Pico do Refúgio Collection, Budapest History Museum – International Collection, MACAM collection and Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection.
