Patrícia Garrido — Agora são cadeiras, depois logo se vê

Born in 1963 in Lisbon.
Lives and works in Lisbon.

“The overall work of the artist, who began her career in the 1980s, has as its thematic poles real or fictionalized memories of her own life, expressed plastically through intellectual, visual and emotional games, such as the creation of puzzles or labyrinths, the creation of supposed or real geometric-mathematical exercises.

If drawing is left with most of the possible clarity of its discourse, painting conveys its restlessness through material density and chromatic obscurity, while sculpture lives off the appropriation of objects, the assemblage of their fragments or, more rarely, modeling.”

“Patrícia Garrido’s work cultivates a permanent disagreement between what it promises and what it offers, maintaining a total opacity and inaccessibility to its interior.”
